Henry V | 'Princey' | Commodore | 1416 to 1422 | Succeeded his father as King and was a keen supporter of the RCYC. He hated the French and planned the start of the 100 years war from the officers lounge on deck 2 |
William Morgan | Bible Billy | Commodore | 1585 to 1604 | His translation of the full Bible into Welsh was a landmark in the history of the language and a radical move to give people scripture in their own tongue. He wrote most of it in the 'Top Bar' and enjoyed a few tipples as he translated. It's said that a few people can identify the passages where he may have over indulged a little!

Iolo Morganwg | HiLo | Commodore | 1787 to 1820 | As the founder of the Gorsedd he played a powerful role in the rebirth of cultural nationalism. Long before the dawn of devolution, he ensured Wales had its own honours system and a unique form of a national assembly. Was an ardent sailor but his navigation was poor and he ran in to Castell Bach Bay instead of Cwmtydu and his yacht was wrecked and his body never found.

Betsi Cadwaladr | Bandage Betsi | Commodore | 1830 to 1850
| She brought healing and comfort to the wounded during the Crimean War and was ready to cut through regulations to give soldiers the treatment they needed. Her indominable spirit was recognised by the RCYC and she became the first female Commodore of a Yacht Club.

TE Lawrence | Fan-belt | Commodore | 1920 to 1935
| Tremadog-born “Lawrence of Arabia” played a key role in the World War I Arab revolt and demonstrated the power of guerilla operations to change the course of a war. He died in tragic circumstances when his scarf became entangled in the back wheel of his motorbike.

Dylan Thomas | Dyl-boy | Commodore | 1935 to 1955
| The poet transfixed audiences on both sides of the Atlantic with the spoken word and his work is reaching new fans in this centenary year. He wrote 'Under Milk Wood' at the RCYC and it's rumoured that Cpt Cat was modelled on one of the Phillips Families famous sea-captains Cpt THomas Theophilus Own Lloyd Phillips

| Commodore | 1955 to 1975 | His own tempestuous life story is a more famous tale than most of his films but Burton possessed a rare genius as an actor and there was a time when he may have been the world’s most famous Welshman. He often invited Elizabeth Taylor to the RCYC and it's rumoured that he proposed to her the second time from behind the bike shed after a 36 hour bender with Peter O Toole
